recoveryLocate Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how recoveryLocate (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our GPS tracking and video-telematics application and related web services (the “Service”). It applies to the account owner and any sub-users on the account.

Our approach: data minimization

We collect only the information necessary to provide and operate the Service. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes, advertising, or marketing.

Information we collect

  • Account & contact — name, email, phone, and company associated with the account and sub-users.
  • Location & telematics — GPS position, speed, ignition/voltage, routes, stops, and geofence events from your tracked devices; and, when you grant permission, your mobile device’s location to display your position on the map.
  • Video — live and recorded video and audio from DVR/dashcam devices paired to your account.
  • Device & technical — device identifiers, app version, operating system, IP address, and diagnostic logs.
  • Billing — billing contact and subscription details. Card payments are processed by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Notifications — a push-notification token so we can deliver alerts you’ve enabled.

How we use information

To provide tracking, recovery, and video features; deliver the alerts you configure; process billing; provide support; secure the Service and prevent fraud or abuse; and meet legal obligations.

Service providers

To operate the Service we rely on a small number of service providers that process data only on our instructions and only to deliver the Service — not for their own purposes: payment processing, map display, push-notification delivery, and secure cloud hosting/storage. These providers are bound by contract and their own data-protection obligations. We do not otherwise disclose customer information to outside entities, except where required by law or a valid legal request, or to protect rights and safety (including cooperating with law enforcement on lawful asset-recovery requests).

Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal and accounting obligations. Location history and recorded video are retained according to your account’s plan and configuration, then deleted or anonymized.

Your choices & rights

You can review and update account information in the app, control location and notification permissions in your device settings, and request access to or correction of your information. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws; contact us to exercise them.

Deleting your account & data

You can delete your account and associated data directly in the app: open Settings → Account → Delete Account (account owners), or remove your own access if you are a sub-user. You may also contact us and we will delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements.

Security

We protect information with encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

Children

The Service is intended for business and adult use and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

International

Information is processed and stored in the United States. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed there.

Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
